PSLE Tamil Oral Topics

These are the conversation topics available for coached oral practice — 33 video clips, each one a short scenario followed by the kind of question an examiner asks about it.

How coaching works on these topics

Each topic opens as a clip. Your child watches it, hears the question, and answers aloud before anything else is revealed. Speaking first is the whole exercise — an answer read off a screen rehearses nothing.

The model answer follows, along with the expressions that earn marks and a short explanation of why they land. A topic can be repeated as often as it takes, and progress carries across sessions, so a run of five minutes an evening adds up rather than restarting.

What separates a strong answer from a correct one is usually length and shape. A single accurate sentence answers the question and stops; a strong answer states the point, gives a reason, and adds an example from the candidate’s own life. That pattern is learnable, and hearing it repeatedly is how it becomes automatic.

Choosing a topic

The set covers the themes examiners return to — food and health, school life, hobbies, family, neighbours, festivals, transport, saving and spending. Ranging across them beats drilling a favourite, because familiarity with a theme is what makes a candidate sound natural rather than rehearsed.

Topics can be revisited as often as it helps. Repeating one a fortnight later is not wasted effort — the second attempt is where the improvement is actually audible.

Reading aloud is examined too and is not covered here — those passages, with audio, are in the full PSLE Tamil Oral course.
