What the oral examination asks
The paper has two halves and they reward different skills. Reading aloud is marked on pronunciation, pace, and the phrasing that shows a passage has been understood rather than merely decoded. The conversation that follows the video is marked on something else entirely: whether a candidate can take a turn, offer an opinion, give a reason for it, and keep going when the examiner asks why.
Two things cost marks more often than grammar does. The first is a reading that is accurate but flat, delivered at one speed with no sense of where a sentence turns. The second is an answer that stops after a single sentence when the question was an invitation to say three. Neither is a knowledge gap, and neither is fixed by revision — both are fixed by rehearsal.
Rehearsing a spoken paper when nobody at home speaks Tamil
Oral is the hardest paper to revise from a book, because it needs someone to listen and answer back. That is the gap this course fills. The conversation half is rehearsed against 33 video topics in the examination’s own format, each carrying a model answer and the expressions that earn marks, so a pupil hears what a complete answer sounds like before attempting one. The reading half has 19 passages, each with a model reading to compare against.
Any of them can be repeated as often as a pupil likes, at any hour, and a parent who does not read Tamil can still see that the work happened. When coaching stops being what is needed, a timed mock runs the whole format from start to finish.
What comes with the course
The lessons below carry the teaching, the sample questions and the answers to study. The practice on this page is where the repetition happens — the part that turns a prepared answer into a fluent one.
This course contains practice lessons for Tamil reading passages and video stimulation exercises. In each of the Tamil reading exercise, a passage is given followed by an audio that reads the passage which the students can closely follow. In each of the video stimulation exercises, a short video is given followed by three types of sample questions with answers. Please attempt the Sample Lesson(s) given below for understanding the depth and coverage of the lessons in this course.Practise this paper
